We appeal to the new members of the National Electoral Commission!
In light of the President’s appointment of new members to the National Electoral Commission (PKW) nominated by the Sejm, we have issued an appeal to the new members to be guided in their work by values such as impartiality and integrity.
As a civic organization committed to the transparency and integrity of the electoral process, and sharing responsibility for fostering trust in elections—while also recognizing shortcomings in the legal framework regarding guarantees of independence for members of electoral bodies, including the National Electoral Commission (PKW)—we have developed an original proposal for a Code of Conduct for members of the National Electoral Commission. This Code reflects international standards for the conduct of election commission members—established by organizations such as International IDEA and the OSCE/ODIHR—and incorporates the fundamental principles of a transparent, equitable, and democratic electoral process.
We believe that acting on the basis of impartiality, integrity, transparency, and cooperation with all individuals and institutions involved in organizing elections will help improve the quality of the electoral process and increase public trust in it.
